The Thai Financial Markets Committee (TFMC) was established in 2015 to serve as a forum for cooperation among market participants from both the public and private sectors particularly in money market and foreign exchange market.
The objectives are:
1) to determine appropriate direction and foster financial market development to support the country’s sustainable economic growth;
2) to promote appropriate codes, standards, and market practices in line with international standards;
3) to serve as a forum for regular discussion of issues and development relating to the financial market amongst market participants and the Bank of Thailand; and
4) to enhance professionalism of the practitioners in the financial market.
At inception the committee was co-chaired by Ms. Chantavarn Sucharitakul, the then Assistant Governor of Financial Markets Operations Group, Bank of Thailand, and by Mr. Sa-ard Theerarojanawong, Executive Vice President, Treasury Division, Bangkok Bank.
