FAQ: Certification
1. What is the Treasury Dealer Certification?
The Treasury Dealer Certification is an industry certification for practitioners engaged in wholesale money market and foreign exchange market in Thailand and also for those who wish to pursue a career in this area. This certification program is jointly offered by the Thai Bankers’ Association (TBA), the Association of International Banks (AIB), and the Bank of Thailand (BOT).
2. What is the objective of this certification?
The main objective of this certification is to establish an industry professional standard and enhance professionalism of the practitioners in the Thai wholesale money market and foreign exchange market.
3. Who should acquire this certification?
• Dealers, traders, and sales of commercial banks and SFIs which include money market dealers, CCS/IRS sales/traders, FX sales/traders, FX option traders, and swap traders.
• Persons wishing to pursue a career in this area.
4. What is the certification timeline?
Before 1 September 2017
Grandfathering process is applicable to dealers, traders, and sales whose names have been submitted to the BOT by their institutions and whose qualifications meet the grandfathering criteria. To become a certified dealer, please see details in: How to be Certified.
From 1 September 2017 onwards
In order to become a certified dealer, a candidate is required to pass examinations in all three modules.
Department/office head, including Treasurer, Head of Global Markets, and Head of Asset and Liabilities Management (ALM), will be exempted from taking Examination Module 1 (Basic Technical Knowledge). However, they are still required to pass Examination Module 2 (Ethics and Code of Conduct) and Examination Module 3 (Regulations and Monetary Operations) in order to be certified.

5. If I am not dealing directly with the wholesale money market or foreign exchange market in my current position. Can I acquire the Treasury Dealer Certification?
Yes, you can acquire this certification. The certification process is detailed in: How to be Certified.
6. How long is the Treasury Dealer Certification valid for?
• In general, a Treasury Dealer Certification will be valid for three calendar years after the year that the certification became effective.
• Those with grandfather status and received certification by way of completing the mandatory training courses, the certification will be valid for only two calendar years after the year the certification became effective.
7. How can I renew my Treasury Dealer Certification?
To renew your certification you are required to complete a refresher course before your certification expires. After completing this renewal requirement, your certification will be valid for three calendar years.

1. Where is the examination center?

2. How can I apply for the examination?
You can register for the examination online with the AIMC. For further information about online registration and payment, please visit AIMC website.
3. Where can I find the examination schedule?
The examination schedule will be announced by the AIMC in March 2017. To check the schedule and register for examination online, please visit AIMC website.
4. How much is the fee?
The examination costs THB 1,000 per module for each sitting. You can choose to take all three modules at the same time or choose to sit for each module separately.
For candidates with grandfather status, the fee for mandatory training will be announced shortly. Information about online registration and course offered will be available on the AIMC website in the first quater of 2017.
5. How long is my examination result valid for?
The marks for each module passed will be valid for six months to be eligible toward meeting certification requirement. You will receive your test results right after finishing the examination.
6. How will I be notified of my certification status after completing the examination?
Certified candidates will be notified about the certification status by email.

1. What are refresher courses?
Refresher courses are provided for certified dealers who wish to renew their certification. It is generally held twice a year. For more information on refresher courses, please see Refresher Course.
